What is Playa Bowls?
Playa Bowls is New Jersey’s Original Acai Shop™ with over 200 locations nationwide. Our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing an amazing in-store brand experience.
What is acai?
The acai berry is renown for its vast range of energy-boosting, cell-healing, immune-stimulating properties. This gem of a fruit is what got this whole party started for us here at Playa Bowls, and it has a cacao berry flavor!
What is pitaya?
Pitaya is a dragon fruit from Nicaragua. This vivid fruit is a tropical orb of phytonutrient-packed, metabolism-stimulating, digestive-aiding, body-detoxifying gold. Pitaya has a faintly sweet taste of an earthy watermelon and the consistency of a kiwi.

We do have nuts in our stores. Also, our granola may contain tree nuts (it is processed in a facility where there are nuts).

- Building smart (Easy on the eye, gentle on the earth. The materials used to build our stores are sourced from 50% reclaimed or refurbished materials), and

Can I bring my dog inside?
Playa Bowls is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all customers, including those
who use service animals. Please review our guidelines regarding both service and emotional support
animals. This policy is intended to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Service Animals
The ADA defines a service animal as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform
tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the
person’s disability. We welcome people with service animals on the store premises.
Staff may ask individuals with service animals the following questions:
• Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
• What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
Service Animals
In general, a service animal is an animal trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual
with a disability, such as guiding individuals with impaired vision, alerting individuals to an impending
seizure, or pulling a wheelchair and fetching dropped items.
Emotional Support Animals
An emotional support animal (also known as a comfort animal) provides reassurance just by being with a
person. However, they do not qualify as “service animals” under the ADA. Therefore, Playa Bowls has
chosen not to allow emotional support animals on its premises. We apologize for any inconvenience this
may cause to you or your family.
Animal Handler’s Responsibilities
All service animals need to be immunized against rabies and other diseases common to that type of
animal.
All vaccinations must be current, and animals must be in good health.
Service animals must be on a leash, harness, or other type of restraint at all times, unless the
customer is unable to retain an animal on leash due to a disability.
Playa Bowls reserves the right to remove a service animal from the premises if it:
• Is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it.
• Poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
• Is not housebroken.
If a service animal must be removed from the premises, absent other circumstances, the owner may re-
enter the premises without the service animal.
What does Playa Bowls mean?
Playa is the Spanish word for beach. Playa Bowls translates to “Beach Bowls” which perfectly describes our products! Our founders, Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani named Playa Bowls after their favorite surf spots around the world, such as Playa Maria and Playa Negra. It seemed fitting to name the brand after the locations that inspired the idea in the first place!
What is actually in a Playa Bowl?
Well we have TONS of options! We have 7 different bases: acai, pitaya, coconut, green, mango, banana, oatmeal, (and two year round special bases the stupid cupid base and our booster base).
Under every base category, we provide different fruit options. For example, under our acai category the first option is an 8th Ave which has acai, granola, banana, and honey. Next, is the Pura Vida which consists of acai, granola, strawberries, blueberries, and honey! So many different bowl options to choose from — 37 to be exact! And, if you don’t like any of our recommended menu items, a custom bowl is always an option! We also serve smoothies and juices as well.
How do you pronounce acai?
Say it with me – ah-sah-EE 🙂
What is in our green base?
Our green base is KALE, banana, pineapple, and coconut milk. It is super refreshing and leaves you feeling energetic and ready to conquer the world!
Are Playa bowls healthy?
Well, I am so glad this question came up! Playa Bowls are a healthy treat full of vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants as opposed to ice cream or a big slice of pizza. Playa Bowls was created by our founders Rob and Abby because they wanted a healthier option after a long surf sesh. Our bowls, smoothies, and juices are here to fuel an active lifestyle and not to leave you feeling sluggish like pizza and fries would!
Which is healthier acai or pitaya?
Both of these super fruits have their own amazing benefits. Acai contains tons of vitamins and amino acids which help with muscle recovery and boosting energy. Acai also has a huge amount of antioxidants in it, which directly correlates with anti-aging! Pitaya is high in fiber which helps maintain a healthy body and has tons of vitamin C and B2!
Allergies?
Our stores offer products with peanut, tree nuts, soy, milk, eggs, and wheat. While we take steps to minimize the risk of cross- contamination, we cannot guarantee that any of our products are safe to consume for people with peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, egg or wheat allergies.
